A few words from the Class of '67
. . . 40, 45 and 50 years later

2007: Hello all. I have been only to one reunion (that was 30th). I  was not contacted for the 35th that I can recall , now here comes the 40th. WOW. I hear from Bruce Deardorff , Dean/Alice Ledee family usually at Christmas. They always have so many interesting things to say. I miss that Medford town to this day, so it is so nice to go back to many memories. I would like to say hi to Sonya Deardorff, always a kick to talk to her. I am working at an elementary school in charge of records and attendance. Love it and should have done this a long time ago. I did retire from Mervyn's in Phoenix, two  years ago after 26 years and wished I had changed careers a lot sooner. My youngest is now a senior at Northern Arizona in Flagstaff.   She was 11 years old when we were at the 30th reunion.  Hoping she and I will be there for the 40th. Raising two grandchildren and am a foster parent as well. Life is very busy here in Arizona.  Take care and hope to see this reunion come to life.  GO TORNADOS!!!!!!

2007: Well, after 40 years I haven't grown any (taller that is). The good news is I haven't shrunk yet either. So, I am a little old grandma with two grandsons. Garret is 9 and almost as tall as his grandma and Tanner is 6 and catching up. My daughter Lori and her family live in Sams Valley , so I visit often. I have been living in Portland for the last nine years and am a licensed massage therapist and an esthetician. Yes, I married a man with the same last name. Charlie is an engineer with the Army Corp. of Engineers, specializing in turbines. We love Portland ! You're all invited to come visit. Just not all at the same time. We'll see you at the reunion.

2007: It truly is hard to believe that it's been 40 years since we were all seniors at Medford High School.  As a transfer student from New York my junior year, it was a difficult transition for me but so many of you were so kind and welcoming -- thanks. I went to Eugene and graduated from the University of Oregon in education and completed my Masters at Portland State.  I have lived in the greater Portland area for more than 35 years.  Last year I retired after 30 years of teaching in the David Douglas School District.  I loved teaching but also love being retired!! I am happily married to a wonderful man, Ron Krueger.  Our family includes: two dogs, six cats and a pond full of fish. We live in a lovely home on the Willamette River and enjoy a myriad of interests.  We also have a darling home on the Oregon coast in Rockaway Beach. Sadly I am unable to attend the reunion this year as my mother is very ill.  I hope to be at the 45th reunion.

The best to all of you.

2007: After graduation, two yrs. college, associate degree electronics, Marine Corps for 2 1/2 yrs. Got married, moved to Portland area and became a journeyman pipefitter. Moved back to Medford with my wife, bought a nice home, but because of the travel of my job my marriage slowly went downhill to divorce. Seven years later remarried, but given ultimatum, no travel or no wife, so went into contractor/painting business. 12 years later sorry to say another divorce. BUT two wonderful children, now 22 and 20 boy/girl. My son at U of Idaho and my daughter at BYU. Very proud of both. As for another relation, Huh, kinda gun shy, I'm just going to keep being a workaholic and try to give my kids a jump start to a great future (trust funds for both payable when I die). 40th was great, Nice to see ya'll. See you again on the 45th.

2007:While getting my Bachelors in Sociology, I took time off and joined VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America); and received a BS from OSU.  I then joined the Army for a few years and then began working for the military.  In between got a MEd from Boston University and a MSW from Portland State.  I got the most wonderful opportunity to live in The Netherlands for two years, Germany for nine years and Japan for seven.  I have lived in Texas, New Jersey, Washington, North Carolina and Kansas.  I always wanted to travel and I really did. I retired the end of June after 30 years with the government and still believe I am sane -- at times I need that verified; but I still believe it at this time. I am married to a great guy, who is also retired (military) and have two very nice step children who followed us to Oregon . Life is still fun.

Still in Holly Springs, NC.  Golfing, fishing, playing Mahjong, plus traveling with grandson Zachary (13); he enters ninth grade this year and is taller than I am -- does this surprise anyone? Looking forward to August and catching up with y'all!
XOXO,

2007: Hi! Seems strange to be talking about grandkids, doesn't it? We are really all just 20 or so. Silas is 18 months and luckily lives nearby. We see a lot of him and his mom and dad. He keeps us hopping. Also, we have Brandt at OSU, he is a freshman, studying and playing lacrosse, perhaps not in that order. Terry works about six months a year and I am still at the Community Corrections Center in Washington County , helping clients find jobs. Am looking forward to seeing those that will be at the reunion. Keep in touch.

Belau, Marge (Glazier)

marglazier@embarqmail.com

Copperas Cove, TX

2007: I've been married to David Glazier for 37 precious years.  We have two daughters, Lisa and Jeanne.  Lisa is a full-time student persuing a nursing degree, has two children, married to a Green Beret and lives in North Carolina.  Jeanne, our younger daughter, lives in San Antonio and is currently employed with the new Toyota complex center south of San Antonio.  She served seven years in the Air Force after her high school graduation.  She is nearly finished with her criminal justice degree.  Dave has retired from the Army and Civil Service.  He is a total hot rod dude!  Currently he is restoring three classic Jeeps.  I have been teaching elementary students for over 20 years here in Texas.  This upcoming school year I will be the fifth grade science teacher.  We center our life around Jesus Christ.  As much as we would like to see old classmates in this upcoming class reunion, we would love to see you all in heaven someday.  The best things in life aren't things.  And as Albert Einstein said, "Things that count cannot be counted."

Bethel, Sher (Alltucker)

salltucker@aol.com

Boulder, CO

2007: Went to SOC then University of Oregon where I got my Mrs. Married Mike Alltucker and we have two children.  Jack 30 and Briney 28. Mike and I divorced when our children were 5 and 7.  We were good co-parents. While my main job was mama I continued to sing, dance and play some tall vamp or comedic relief in many musicals for 25 or so years.  I was the costume designer for a modern dance company in Eugene for many years.  As a single mom I worked at a computer company in the '90s when the genre was discovering movie like images.  I was the theatrical coordinator, which meant I got to cast and hire actors, costume them do their makeup, the works. Paid to do theatre in Eugene was a dream job. It was so much fun.  After Jack and Briney went off to college, so did I.  At 50 I went back to get my degree in Fine Art.  Best thing I've ever done. I was invited by Briney to come to Boulder and so I did. I've been here two years. Briney married this summer and is the kindergarten teacher at a wonderful old elementary school here.  Jack lives in Bend and is a programmer for Sony  playstation.  He now works with the same guys I worked with in the gaming business.  I'm a live in Nanny here with a young single mom and her 5-year- old boy. I also take care of two little girls 3 and 1 while he is at school. I went to the 10th and 20th class reunions before I got lost.  I didn't think I was lost but I didn't know about the reunions.  I saw Dave Yarbough quite often as I traveled to Portland via Amtrak.  I won't be able to get to the 40th as it is next week.  Have fun.  I wish I could be there.  Best to all.

Boe, Tina (Holmes)
tholmesrn1@charter.net
Central Point, OR

Hello to all my classmates.
After graduation I attended SOC, now SOU, for pre med, changed my major to nursing and transferred to U of O School of Nursing, now OHSU.
I married my college sweetheart Stephen Holmes who was drafted into the military his senior year at Portland State. That began our adventure with the USAF. After multiple tours overseas, in 1991 we retired after 20 plus years and returned home to Oregon.
I went to work at Rogue Valley Hospital, now RRMC, in the Coronary Care Unit and retired In 2013. I was an RN for 43 years.
Steve and I have been married 48 years, have two children, Katheryn and Ted. We also have three grandsons, Dominic, Gunnar and Archer.
We are Airstreamers and spend our leisure time attending rallys throughout Oregon --  the club plans to visit all the Oregon state parks. We are also planning a caravan with AS members from around the country.
That's my life in a nutshell.
Hope to see all of you at our 50th reunion!

2007: Hello everyone. What a ride. Did everyone end up where they thought they would be? I did and didn't. After graduation I went to SOSC, then to U of O. Studied architecture then moved into construction. Bridges, WWTP, commercial buildings. I have been married twice. Have two wonderful children and two terrific grandsons. Never could seem to find the right mate. So I have been single for the last 10 years. I retired in 2004 and moved to Arizona . Played golf for six months, 36 holes a day. Let me tell you,  retirement is not that great when you are 55. Everyone you meet is a lot older and needs to nap after 18 holes. So I went back to work for the company I retired from in Oregon . I seem to be doing the snowbird thing backwards. Arizona in the summer, Oregon in the winter. Such is the paradox. I am looking forward to seeing everyone after 40 years. I would like to hear from anyone that is in the area.

2007: Whew -- 40 years and it still seems like just yesterday that we were all in Medford.  Truly miss the Roosevelt gang and all the good times we had through the years.  Living in Sisters Oregon and enjoying the wonderful Central Oregon weather and outdoors.  Still doing real estate for myself and have branched out to other states.  19-year-old daughter attending COCC who is a joy to me.  Probably can't make the 40th but I plan on being here for the 50th so probably see you then.  Stop and say hi if you are through Sisters.

Buffington, Spencer

snbuffington@comcast.net

Seattle, WA

2007: Ain't gettin' old great?  I promised myself as a young man not to talk about my maladies as I became elderly, so I won't.  I'm still vertical, working in Seattle for the county it's in, am married, and have been twice, first time for five years and no spawn, second time for 28 years, with a 25-year-old young man to replace me (and Nina).  He's living in Burbank, just out of film school, editing wedding and bar mitzvah video (he's learning his Jewish culture to do a more sensitive treatment).  I ride a motorcycle to pretend I'm a free spirit, we have applied for a permit to build a house in the industrial district of Seattle, have a hideaway in Canada, far from the maddening crowd.  Reading and yoga are my passions, at present. Actually, reading is the enduring part of my life.  Which is quite an ambiguity for a very un-cerebral guy.  Can't wait to see you all. Shawn Caperna's absence is probably the most wrenching loss out of our class for me.  What a torch I carried for her!  There are some others I've been thinking about.  I can't wait to see who's at the reunion.  Please, be there, all of you.  I hope we'll share a Blitz or Oly (ya, I know they aren't brewed anymore, or I think I know that), and save the last dance for me.

Burke, Janet (Ainsworth)

Sherwood, OR

2007: An old comedian wrote "You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough." Well, I'm doing my best and it's been an amazing ride. Since high school graduation, I've married twice, have two wonderful children and two adorable granddaughters. My first marriage to Steve Parsons (MSH '66) ended in divorce.  My second marriage ended in 2003 with the death of my husband, Sid.  He was my dearest friend. In 2006 I moved to Sherwood  to be close to my children and granddaughters who live in Beaverton. I have been blessed to travel all over the world.  Recently I spent a month in New Zealand.  Awesome!  The next scheduled adventure is Europe for the month of September, which is why I won't make it to the reunion.  I've been to Israel three times and would love to go again.  Mexico is also special.  I was priviledged to serve at an orphanage there with my church.  I still hope to make it to Africa... Fishing is fun (caught a 130-pound halibut in Alaska).  I also enjoy camping, landscaping and remodeling homes.  Never a dull moment! My favorite thing though is to spend time with my family.

The adjustment to the single life has not been easy.  Still, my life has been blessed beyond my wildest dreams.  I have known true love, genuine friendship, pure joy, loads of laughter and buckets of tears.  For everything, I am grateful.

Now, here's to the future!

I send best wishes to the class of '67.  God bless you all!

2007: Seems like yesterday I was singing "Yesterday" in assembly.  A new wife, Ann, who will come in August, wants me to sing it again, but since no else does we won't have to worry.  One daughter just graduated from PSU in microbiology and the other daughter is a sophomore at OSU who will re-write everything Freud ever wrote.  Ann has two daughters also, so we have an interesting and busy life.  I'm still doing law in Portland and run into several classmates at the bus stop or on the golf course.  The 35th was so much fun, I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at the 40th.

2007: Hi, my friends!!!  Well, we are another five years down the road -- and I look forward to catching up with you!  I am still in Medford -- I did venture out for seven months in 2005-2006 and moved to the Portland area, thinking it was "my time."  But, to keep this "story" short and simple (the long version isn't that interesting anyway), I was offered a great opportunity back in Medford and here I am.  Again.  And happy, happy to be here in time to reconnect with some pretty special people.  I have the joy of being the manager of executive services and assistant to the chief executive at Providence Medford Medical Center -- great place to work, fabulous group of folks to work with.  I count my "employment blessings" every day.  Hey -- drop me an e-mail and let me know who you are, where you are.  Also, please e-mail me your current mailing address and e-mail address, as well as those of any of our classmates to ensure our "save the date" mailing and future mailings reach as many classmates as possible.  Start reconnecting with old friends now and figure out ways to help you recognize each other in August when we're face-to-face!  Aging just isn't as subtle as it used to be. . . .  XO  Sharon

2007: Jerry and I will be celebrating our 39th anniversary this year. As time goes on new adventures come; we'll be experiencing retirement soon. Our daughter has blessed us with two boys, Cameron, 2 1/2 and Caleb, 4 months. They live out of state ... so we get to be long distance grandparents. But we see them as much as we can. Our son is here and doing well. Life has indeed been very good, lots of blessings.

I continue to have a fulltime private practice as a psychologist in Corvallis. I have a Web site www.carolcarver.com for my practice. I remain an avid Duck fan, so I will be at Autzen for the home opener on Sept. 1.  Life continues to be good. I must admit I really don't have many memories of high school. So much has happened since then.  I have managed to have quite a bit of fun in the last few years, in addition to having cervical spinal fusion in 2008, which turned out perfectly. I had four vertebrae fused in my neck, due to disintegrated disks. I don't recommend it if you don't have to, but for me it has been as good as it could be. Since then I have gone to Europe for three weeks, cruised to Alaska,  and plan to do more when I have the time and money. I don't plan to retire until about 2020, so I don't know if I will make the 50th reunion. I look forward to looking at the pictures of those of you who attend.

2007: We graduated 40 years ago?  Seems like a lifetime -- well, I guess it is.  My last visit to Medford was in 1981.  I will be in the valley in mid-July for family event and cannot be there for the 40th reunion in August. Since graduating MHS, have lived (in order): college in the Chicago area;  California for the military; northern Utah; Chicago; Philadelphia; Seattle; Philadelphia; Richmond, Va; and Philadelphia area.  Married, divorced, remarried, three daughters, eight grandchildren. Youngest daughter is a sophomore at Gettysburg College.  Most of my career in the management of medical school departments -- bailed on that a few years ago to work within a family business in the Philadelphia suburbs. I joke that having lived so many places I’m not from anywhere anymore.  But my roots are Oregonian.  And even my dog has web-feet!

Canby, OR

2007: I retired from the military just after the 35th reunion.  I have filled my time volunteering at the Canby School District, Canby Police Department, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the U.S. Forest Service and the Oregon Hunters Association. My son followed me into the service and just returned from a one-year tour of duty in Afghanistan.  It was harder for me to have a loved one deploy to a war zone than for me to be in one.  At least after an attack I knew I was alive, I didn't have to wait until I received an e-mail to know that he was OK. I still have a kid in college, my daughter, who is going to Portland State.  I currently have four grandkids with one more on the way

2007: Wow -- 40 years -- it feels like only yesterday that we were dancing and drinking at our 10th reunion.  Few more wrinkles, but still feel great ... Married Pat Vaughan (class of '64) in '72.  Have yours, mine and ours.  The "ours" just graduated from college two weeks ago.  Our middle daughter, Holly, has been living and working in Guangzhou, China, for the past eight  years and is returning home Aug. 21 with our only grandchild whom she adopted this past year.  It will be nice to have all three girls in Portland within "dinner" distance.  I have been with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage for 15 years -- retirement does not seem to be in the cards at this point.  Pat is in environmental management and he loves the work so much he will probably croak at his desk.

We enjoy golf together and golf with friends.  I love to travel, but have spent most of my travel between here and China the past seven years, so it will be nice to be able to take advantage of going someplace else with my frequent flyer miles.

Look forward to seeing all of you in August.

2007: I loved our 40th reunion.  It was so good to see everyone.  We have created a bond through the years by just having survived them. I know we all appreciated celebrating that weekend together.  The Medford High class of 1967 truly rocks!

I am working as a Toddler Specialist for Southern Oregon Head Start. Katie, Kellie, and Koby are the apple of their mother, grandmother's eye.  I see them as often as possible.

My condo has a guest room, so I encourage you to come for an Ashland visit.  I have an expresso machine, glorious views, and am within walking distance to the home of William Shakespeare.  Winter, spring, summer, or fall all you have to do is call  541-621-1152.

2007: Well, after 40 years it could be rather long, but here is the short one.  I have a daughter Tiffany, age 39, a son Sean age 37.  Four grandkids, with a boy and a girl from each. Grandkids are GREAT!! I have been in the finance business, inusrance and mortgage broker business for quite a few years.  I am married and love to ski, fly fish, hunt and play golf as well as a few other outdoor activities. Pretty simple, just glad to be alive.

If you’re reading this, you also made it 45 years.  Yay!  Tod and I still live in Beaverton.  I love spending time with our two sons and their wives and kids.  They all live nearby.  Our family is growing!  I wrote five years ago that our older son was married and had two boys.  Well, our younger son married a little over two years ago and had a daughter nine months later.  They are now expecting a son around Thanksgiving.  Our grandchildren's ages are almost 15, 11, 1 1/2, and “almost here."
I retired two years ago from our church’s worship team, so now I enjoy singing in the congregation.  Life is good!  It’s filled with family and friends, and I am very happy and content.  I hope you are, too.

Then I went on a mission for my church in 2004 to New York for 18 months. Then when I came back I met Mike and we were married last August. I have three daughters, Jolene, who lives in Texas with 2 daughters and then Danielle here in Boise and my youngest Darcelle also in Boise with one son. I am going to miss the reunion again because my daughter from Texas is visiting. Perhaps the 45th.

He died 14 months ago after a marriage of 38 1/2 years.  A little hard to get used to.  I have taken a couple of college courses since last year, got my California Real Estate license because of it.  Can't make the reunion because of a family reunion the same weekend in Lakeside, Ore.  Would really like to see some of you people maybe Sunday or next couple of years. Can't find my yearbooks!!!

We were a great class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would like to be included on upcoming class stuff.

Medford, OR

Can you believe how fast 50 years have shot by? All in all, I am pretty happy and still enjoy many parts of life. I appreciate the education and training I received from Medford High School. However, I do like the song that goes something like: "With all the crap I learned in high school it is a wonder that I can think at all." My wife Wanda (40 years putting up with me) has been a great partner. We have one daughter (Fairlight) who has two sons, ages 14 and 12.  Her husband will be retiring next year from the service and we are all looking forward to having him back home with the clan. So I turned into a California hippie after a motorcycle accident when I was 22. I went to San Jose State along with SOC in Ashland and received my business degree. I passed the CPA exam in 1975. Passing that 2 1/2-day test opened doors in the business field for me. My daughter has joined my CPA firm and that is pretty marvelous.  It is nice having that younger, eager brain to work through the different tax issues and other financial things. She is helping me aim for retirement down the road as I transition the tax practice to her. By the way, I want to apologize for any wrongdoings I did to  any of my classmates in the old days. Hopefully I never hit any of you with spit wads or the likes. Of course I remember Halloween and the S curve on East Main Street, and hitting that cop car with a pumpkin. I remember turning around and seeing an officer fast approaching me. I turned and ran and hit the fence and vaulted over it to get away. I was lucky there was no doberman or swimming pool in the back yard. And yes, I guess I should have been arrested. I think the statute of limitations has passed so I can mention that one. Sadly we have lost many of our classmates, but I want to wish all the remaining classmates the best! How time flies!

2007: Hi,

I won't bore you with the details, it all started out this way. After graduation I worked for school district during that first summer. got an itch and moved to San Diego. spent about four months their and got restless.

Got an offer to go to a trade school In Utah. Spent two years there, things didn't pan out the way I wanted so I moved on. Next thing you know I'm back in Medford. I spent about six years working at Bear Creek Orchards, Then it was known as Harry & David. It was decided I take a different route in life.

Got a call from a buddy I worked with at Harry & David, he was living and working in Anaheim. So I moved to Anaheim and spent 27 years working for same company. Economics hit us hard. so plant folded up and went out of business. I took retirement and eventually move to Las

Vegas. Now I'm looking forward to where this will lead me too. So I hope to see you all down the road.

Footnote:

I never married and have no children.

Eugene, OR

I live in Eugene and I've worked in the lumber business since 1973. After moving from Beaverton in the '90s, I have worked for Seneca Sawmill Co. in Eugene for the past 25 years. I have been married to Judy Pollard (Class of '68) for 47 years. I have a daughter and a son, and four grandchildren -- two boys and two boys. I still work full time, but we have been traveling and fulfilling the 'ol bucket list whenever possible. Along with Judy and other friends, we rafted the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon for seven days, along with other rivers closer to home over the past 10 years!

With a group of my OSU buddies and their wives, we went to Pamplona, Spain, to “run with the bulls” in 2011. Just the guys did that run! We went on to France, to visit Paris and to visit Normandy and give our respects. Three of my buddies are big-time mountain climbers, but Mt. St. Helens and South Sisters are the extent of climbing with them. Judy and I have also made a two-week pilgrimage to Israel, and last summer went to Bruge, Belgium, then on to Amsterdam, taking a Rhine River trip to Basel, Switzerland, enjoying time in Germany and northern France. But for the most part, we just live life, working hard, reading lots of good books, enjoying our children and grandchildren as often as possible. They live within a couple of hours of us (a first Disneyland trip with them planned for this summer). I might live in Eugene (and it can be painful among the Ducks), but I am forever an OSU Beaver (through thick and thin) so going to games – football, basketball, baseball with our longtime college friends – is something I have enjoyed for decades. That's about it!

After bouncing around four colleges, I graduated in English at Western Oregon University and…somehow…ended up managing a staff of twelve “math wizards” (actuaries/analysts) in government insurance regulation here in California for the past 24 years. My daily commute on freeways from Huntington Beach to downtown L.A. is, I know, the envy of all you. Every four years, I get a new boss, insurance commissioner, elected by the people, alternating between a Democrat and a Republican each election. So, I learned to exhibit neutral political affiliation which eventually evolved into me becoming completely apolitical. My son, 24, U. of Montana graduate, is working his dream job, a firefighter, in issoula MT. My oldest daughter, 22, is a junior at Cal State University Long Beach, in the design school…Interior Design. And, my youngest daughter, 19, a sophomore at Orange Coast College is a starter on the women’s soccer team…says she’ll transfer to UMT for her junior/senior years an live with her brother. But, I say, “How about upping your match work-rate a few notches, scoring some more goals so that you get noticed and offered an athletic full-ride somewhere so that I can retire early….like ALL MY MHS ’67 CLASSMATES!” A semester of study in Munich, Germany, 1976, kick-started my soccer coaching education and I’ve been coaching, year ‘round, for 35 years. The salary pays the daughters’ college tuition and supports my golf habit. See my coaching bio and photo at: http://nhbfutbol.com/bio.php?sid=44

2007: The 35th was great. Had a good time. Will be at the 40th. Hope to visit with more of you guys. I have been in the grocery business since high school. In 1987 I built my first store in the Salem area (Food 4 Less). We have four stores now. All in the Salem area.  In 1982 I met a gal from California. Married her and now have four kids. Life is good. Stephanie (23), Shane (21), Stacey (17) and Stephen (17) (twins).   I have a grandson, 8-month-old from  Steph and Alvies. What a kick! All my kids and son-in-law work for me. A great team. I work less now and do a lot of hunting, fishing, golfing etc. See you in August!

2007: Hello everyone. For the last 18 years, my wife and family have been living in Olympia, Wash. My wife of 36 years, Sharon, is a ’69 MSHS grad. We have five wonderful children and one granddaughter all living in our area.

My family owned and operated Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Medford. That is where I worked as a youth and later after of college. In 1987 we sold the family funeral business to a major corporation.

We migrated to Olympia in 1989 where I worked for another funeral business consolidator. I became a regional vice-president for the company and traveled around the United States. While this was adventurous and educationally rewarding, it was a great sacrifice for my family.

In 2002 with Sharon’s blessing and support, we started a new funeral service business in the Olympia area. It is called Funeral Alternatives of Washington. Check out our web site at www.funeralalternatives.org

Sharon and I enjoy traveling and love the Caribbean and Vegas. We have enjoyed bowling, both in leagues and competitively. As members of the Amateur Bowlers Tour, (ABT) both of us have championship titles. Sharon sings in the Olympia Choral Society which is heavily involved in community service by donating to worthy causes. Family events and activities are our focus.

By the way, I tried to make Dell’s burgers at a family function the other day. I only could get one kid to try it. The rest just couldn’t buy into that mustard slathered greasy icon. I ask you, where’s the respect and reverence for once was so meaningful to a former Medfordite youth?

Hope to see you at the reunion!

2007: I was one of those quiet students, very shy, and introverted.  I was a late bloomer. ... Found my passion in the fashion biz,  started selling clothes in my brothers two stores in Medford.  Does anyone remember the Shanghai Noodle Factory or It's a Beautiful Day?  Left Southern Oregon later and did four years at Nordstroms.  Moved to Hawaii and began designing accessories.  Continued with that for 19 years.  Also manufactured gifts/home décor.   Semi-retired about 5 years ago, and decided to be a vendor at the Portland Saturday Market -- into my fourth year there.  It is my "hood" and I get a lot of enjoyment being with fellow artists, in a laid-back atmosphere.  I craft leather goods!  Self-taught.  A labor of love. My personal life has been a roller coaster.  I have two sons, two grandsons and one lovely daughter. Very blessed.  I am married to a country lawyer and live in the Columbia Gorge. I returned to Oregon eight years ago (six years in Hawaii and 14 in San Diego) Very happy to be back. I have had wins and losses and have gained wisdom from it all.  It feels good to be getting older and thankfully wiser. I was very sad to read about Ron Duce passing.  He was a buddy of mine once upon a time. Have a wonderful reunion!

Love & peace.

2007: I followed the legacy of my Mayflower heritage, but on a much smaller scale.  My husband Larry and our family have roved around Oregon since we were married 34 years ago: St. Helens, Bend, Roseburg (4 times), Redmond, Eugene, Ashland, and Tualatin (twice).  Never a dull moment following his career, but I got tired of starting over in every new town.  So I started with the Forest Service in Bend, and now work in public affairs at the BLM in Portland.  Since 2000, I interjected college into a full schedule, and finished with a double-major from Portland State (fulfilling a lifelong dream).  Have also been blessed with three incredible daughters: Jennifer (32), Kelley (31), and Nicole (30).  We have five grands here in Oregon, and Larry's daughter has seven kids in Georgia. That's a roomful!!!

Not sure if we'll be back for reunion this year, but it would be great to catch up with some friends I lost track of.  I've been back in the valley fairly often in recent years as part of the Walk to Emmaus ministry. Retirement looks better all the time, as the things I HAVE to do leave little time for all the things I WANT to do.

2007: We can't possibly be this old, it seems we were just cruising Jack's and dancing at the Armory on Friday night! Still refusing to grow up, divorced with no children and I have my dream-job in commercial real estate develpment for a 412+ acre mixed-use project in Vancouver, Wash. (yes, I commute to another state every day!) I guess the payoff for not having children is being able to do a bit of travel: lived on the beaches of Baja Mexico, trekked the Inca trail in Peru to Machu Pichu, rain forest of the Amazon, Mayan ruins of Central America, Italy, Greece, Turkey, France, Britain, summitted Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and I leave this September for Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. But enough about me ... oh wait, this is all about me!  I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the 40th (gasp!) reunion but I certainly remember the Class of'67!!

Wendi is assitant manager at Washington Mutual Bank in J'Ville, and the youngest Dylan graduated from OSU and works and lives in San Diego . After high school, I attended OTI in Klamath Falls to become a radiologic technologist.   Upon graduation, I married Sandy Pickard (also class of ’67).  We’ve now been married 47 years, have two sons and two grandkids (grandson is almost 15 and our granddaughter graduated in ’17 – 50 years after us – crazy).   We do go to Medford several times a year for family visits.  Strange how you never see anyone that looks familiar.  After a few years in Arizona, and the Sacramento area working in the hospital performing x-ray and special procedures exams, as well as in management, I ventured into the commercial side of the medical imaging business.  I’ve had various sales, product specialist and management roles.  For 25 years prior to retirement, I was an account manager at Philips Healthcare.   My expertise was technical, clinical use and installation planning primarily in CT, MRI, X-ray, and Cardio-Vascular Imaging.  For most of my career I was located in the East Bay or the Sacramento areas of Northern California.  I was awarded many travel trips thru the Philips top producers club,  even got the Rolex watch as top account manager in the United States.   We also have traveled on our own to Europe several times and to many U.S. locations.  It was also imperative we fit in all the time available on our Shasta Lake houseboat.  We continued to snow ski, primarily at Tahoe, until the kids left.  We are avid RV’ers and love the outdoors, national parks, nature preserves and exploring the treasures of the area we are visiting.  However, cruises and resort hotels have given us great experiences as well.  We took both of our grandkids to Washington,  D.C.,  for their individual eighth-grade spring break.  Nice bonding experience.  I was able to retire at 63.  We decided to downsize and in May ’14 moved from Folsom, CA into an awesome 55+ resort senior community in Oceanside, CA, 4.5 miles from the beach.  Ocean Hills Country Club is a wonderful community with all kinds of activities and clubs, huge pool with spa, 18-hole golf course, tennis and pickle ball, bocce ball and large club house with theater (with plays and outside entertainment)  and gym.   And -- someone else takes care of the spa/pool, landscaping.    We live close to our kids/grandkids.  I am involved with the Bird Club, the Photo Club and of course engaged in the RV Club.   Our RV club takes great trips, such as one last year to Sedona, and has excellent parties.  We have helped plan several trips now.   Retirement is an adventure.

Again, decided to write after the 50th reunion.  Thank you to the committee -- it was a lovely weekend and now that I am back in Reno, I have had lots of time to think about the group of us making up the Class of '67.  The longer we are away from those classroom days, the more we seem like a family.  The times we shared were unique to us. When we get together, it feels so right.  I got to grow up with all of you and with the support I received from you classmates, our teachers and friends and with the education I received, I have felt confident my whole life beyond high school and I thank you all for that.  Since the 40th, like many of you, I am retired and do not miss work one bit.  I wake up every morning feeling like I did as a young child on summer vacation and there are NO parents or other adults telling me what chores I have to do or where I need to go.  Life is great.  See you all at our 70th birthday party if someone plans it!

After high school, I went to OTI for 3 1/2 years, got married to a Klamath Falls gal. Got into the coin machine business with a partner, which didn't work real well. Sold to him and moved back to the valley. I stayed in the coin machine business until retirement. I have two boys, the oldest lives in Hillsboro  with his wife. He's 45. The youngest lives in Arkansas but works between there and the West Coast. He's 38. I'm mostly retired, but I work for a coin machine company a few days a month. I was married to my first wife for 25 years. Got remarried to Sharon almost nine years ago. We have five grandchildren, all in the valley. Life is great except for the aches and pains.

Doing a lot of traveling with  Nancy, my wife of 39 years who retired in 2011 after a 30-year career as an RN.   Son Kyle, 30, is a  biomedical engineer who recently moved from Wisconsin to Seattle with husband Bob.  Daughter Katie, 32, is a library aide at Oregon Episcopal School. She's married to Cyrus and lives in West Linn. Nancy and I have lived in Southwest Portland for nearly four decades.  Age is just a number. We are all forever young!

2007: After an ill-spent youth, life has really been good to me. I have  been with the love of my life, Theresa, for 30 years and we have two grown daughters, Melissa and Michelle, ages 23 and 26. I also have a son from my first wife who lives inTexas and has given me six grandchildren. I moved back to the valley 14 years ago and have been very involved with the Rogue Flyfishers for the last ten years and served on the board of directors for four years and as president for three terms. I organize and host exotic flyfishing trips to Mexico, Belize, Christmas Island, Alaska and I'm always looking for new places to go. The Rogue Flyfishers have been my niche in life and the friends I've made there are priceless to me. I also sell exotic feathers and flytying materials and framed Atlantic salmon flies on the side.  I play blues guitar and I have a good collection of great guitars and blues music. I hope to get a blues band going in the near future.  My other vice is Texas Holdem poker and I play on line several hour a day. I've got the bug real bad. . . . lol. I haven't made it to any of our other reunions and I'm really looking forward to see everyone again. I never dreamed I'd be fat and bald and from the pictures of your last reunion . . . I'm not alone . . . lol . . . don't let your mom comb your hair when she's mad at your dad!

I have been selling bread for Williams/Franz for the last 28 years. Margaret works for the Asante health system in the homecare and hospice department. She  works with Donna "Smith" Stribling who all of us went to school with. I also have a new supervisor at work who is the son of Karen "Razor" Robertson. I think I should be old enough to quit working when this happens. He is a" great young man." I live on the property that I was raised on and am thankful to be here. 2007: I recently retired from the Postal Service after 31+ years at the post. LOL!! I recently lost my dad (92 years young) and am living with and taking care of my mom. I have failed with the marriage gig twice and am diligently seeking #3. Wrong!!!!!!! I have three  sons, 26,28 and 30, and four  grandkids but they are the long-distance variety. I love golf, gardening, hiking and backpacking. I have given up on downhill skiing and go for the tamer variety of cross country stuff. I work part-time full time at The Home Depot just to get my kicks for the day and be around people which I love. I find that I spend more on tools and stuff than I make which doesn't make much sense. My inner strength comes from my strong faith in God my Saviour which has carried me through all kinds of storms mental, physical and financial, and especially Vietnam . I know where I am headed and I am sure I will have many of my high school friends there to greet me or the other way around.

The years continue to fly by.  A long time ago, after getting my degree from Valpariso University in Indiana, I married Mary Lorish, from Medford, in 1971. Then, I got another degree from Oregon State (Go Beavs!). I spent 34 years working for the U.S. Forest Service in Oregon and Idaho, and retired Dec. 31, 2004... 12 YEARS AGO! Mary and I have two children who are now much older than we were when we had them.  Our son, Oden, works for Bonneville Power Administration in Portland. He is married and we now have a grandson, Iain, who is now 8 yrs old. After getting her PhD from UC Santa Barbara, our daughter, Jody, became a professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  She teaches organizational communication.  We love black labrador retrievers. I still do a little environmental consulting when it doesn't interfere with upland bird hunting and fishing trips to Alaska, Mexico, Costa Rica, and other neat places. Mary and I travel as often as we can.  Maintaining friendships is important to me... especially friendships that go back to high school years and beyond. 2007: What fun to see the faces and read the updates on the Class of 1967 Web site! I am healthy and happy and living in Florida, having moved from Arizona last fall.  I married the love of my life, Steve Edmonds, MHS class of 1965, last November in Belize. We are a good love story and feel blessed every day! I've not had children but get to enjoy Steve's boys (25 & 28). I have enjoyed my own business in the holistic field, still love nature and water (the influence of summers at Howard Prairie Lake) and visit family in Medford every year.  I won't be making it to the reunion but I do send my best wishes to everyone.  If you feel like it, be in touch! 2007: Wow, I had to leave Medford the day after our graduation, to a "sand-trap" known as Tonopah, Nev., where Dad had purchased a funeral home. From there I joined the Air Force, for four years (a year in Thailand during Nam), and ended up living and loving Colorado where I lived from 1973-1985.   Went back to school for two years (Colorado AeroTech), and got my Airframe and Powerplant licenses. Shortly there after we moved to Fremont, Calif., where I worked for "Air California" from 85-88.  In 1989 we relocated to Claremore, Okla., where I have been working for American Airlines for about 22 years now. Married for 26 years to my beloved Terry (who, by the way, grew up in the  Coos Bay-Bandon area). We met in Colorado.

Children: David Carlin Jones, went to be with the Lord in 1994. Two more sons, Don and Jason, our daughter Rachael. We have five living grandchildren; our sixth, Jasmyn Nicole, went home to the Lord at 3 months old three years ago.

Had a joyous opportunity to write and communicate with Julie Cummings way back when (around the time of second reunion! What a joy that was, as I had a tremendous crush on her (since kindergarten!).

Would love to come to the latest shindig, but it's quite a distance for just two days! We'll see. Have been an avid Sunday School teacher/part time preacher for about 15 years now, which is pretty amazing in itself, considering my youth and younger years! God has blessed me tremendously.

Drop me a line anytime, would love to hear from any of you!!

2007: Still a musician.  I am beginning my 37th season with the Rogue Valley Symphony, 42 years with the Ashland City Band.  I am also in the SOU Faculty Brass Quintet, Rogue Tubas, Southern Oregon Heavy Metal Music Society, and Rogue Valley Symphonic Band. I now own 12 tubas.  My career was in Social Work. After one year at U of O (still consider myself a Duck) I finished a BS at SOSC.  Then moved to Michigan to work for the Social Security Administration and went to graduate school in Social Work at Michigan State University.  Moved back to the valley, and met my wife Barbara in Grants Pass.  We lived there for 13 years and our two sons Eric and Christopher were both born there.  Barb is also a social worker at that time working for Josephine County Mental Health (she now is the chief social worker for Ashland Hospital Hospice and Home Health. When we found out how BAD Grants Pass schools were we moved to Ashland and built our house ourselves.  In 1992 I struck out on my own into a new career, a hybrid of social work and nursing, called Geriatric Care Management. Just this June I retired from the day jobs and now have a small private practice. Barb and I have now been married 31 years and we have one 8-month-old grandson.  We enjoy music (she plays the oboe), sailing, photography, gardening, housebuilding (we built a cabin at Lake of the Woods about six years ago) traveling, and car restoration.  I'm currently building a "go kart on steroids" a 1974 Porsche 914 with an 87 Porsche Carrera engine.

2007: Hi to all!! It has been super. Went to OSU and on to Pavia, Italy, my junior year. Graduated in four years from OSU (my kids say those years were much easier, that's why they needed more time to graduate.) On to San Francisco in the insurance business where I met my husband  and three sons from his previous marriage.  We all moved to New Jersey for a year and he was transferred again -- to the Phillipines where he was in charge of all of Southeast Asia. Lots of wonderful trips to facinating places while there for 4 1/2 years. Back to the East Coast where I was a travel agent then on to real estate, which I have loved for 21 years and continue to love it and the people I help. Chuck is retired and plays lots of golf when he can. My boys are 35, 37 and 39 -- two live in San Francisco and have a landscape design business and one lives on Long Island, NY. Two are married and one is divorced -- no grandkids.(Could it be me???? Maybe I was the wicked stepmother) Love, love them and we get to see them all when we can. Next stop, perhaps Medford. Have the house, but can't stop work.  Have a wonderful time at the reunion! 2007: Ellen and I met in 1973 and married in 1978.  Our son John was born in 1983.  We call him Jack after my dad and so there was no confusion while we were raising him.  Jack graduated from South Medford High School in 2002. After more than 30 years of government service, including the U.S. Navy, I retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2006.  Ellen's disability prevents her from working.  This year, Ellen and I flew to Philadelphia in May and visited with my sister, Shirley, and her husband, Jerry. Afterward, we went to White Plains, N.Y., to attend Jack's graduation from the Conservatory of Film and Theatre Arts, located on the campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Purchase College.  We had planned to fly back following the commencement ceremony, but Jack had no need any longer for our 1990 Chevy S-10 pickup truck.  So we drove it back to Medford. It took us a couple of weeks or so, but we visited Letchworth State Park in New York, Niagara Falls State Park in New York, Buffalo, Cleveland, Chicago, Madison, LaCrosse, Souix Falls, and wound up in Bison, S.D.  We visited with a friend from my Navy days.  Bob and Camille raised four children on a farm in South Dakota.  We stayed a few days, and then went south through Sturgis and Mount Rushmore.  We drove through Hill City and Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota before reaching Wyoming. We toured the world's largest mineral hot springs at Thermopolis, Wyo., and spent a night in Jackson Hole before we got back home.  The truck never used any oil and it gave us 23 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the freeway. We are enjoying my retirement together and we look forward to seeing you all at the 50th reunion.

I'm married to a Minnesotan, Don Patrick, and we are both retired. His health has been poor for the past few years so I spend most of my time as a caregiver. During my working years I did a number of things. My BA is in Human Services and I managed non-profit and public programs to assist people. I also wrote grant applications in those areas, My favorite coup was landing a $9 million 21st Century Learning Centers grant for the Longview and Kelso school districts. I'm told that is the largest one ever given.

I have three grown sons who are doing well, and two grandchildren, a boy 15 and a girl 12. The boy is learning to drive... in Seattle! Both grandchildren are involved in karate. The boy holds an adult black belt and the girl holds a junior black belt and is working toward the adult qualification when she is old enough. The are the light of my life! Both kids play the piano, the boy plays trumpet in band and the girl plays viola in orchestra. Band and orchestra were a big part of my life in high school so I'm glad they are having the great experience as well.  The boy will start the International Baccalaureate program this fall in his sophomore year. Both he and his sister do very well in school and are in gifted programs. They are so fortunate to have supportive parents who see that they are given great opportunities for growth and learning.

I've been in Washington State for 38 years but I still think of myself an an Oregonian. I'm looking forward to seeing classmates at the Friday evening gathering. I'm not planning to attend the Saturday dinner/dance, but would like to spend Saturday meeting up with folks who would like to do that. E-mail me at katziebob@gmail.com and we can work out a coffee date or whatever.

2012: My wife, 17-year-old daughter and I still live in a rural village, Cambridgeshire, England, so it is doubtful that we could come to the reunion. I am still working full time as a Crown Prosecutor (Barrister) in the Crown Court (equivalent to a Felony Court) in Cambridgeshire. Life is pretty routine except for October 2010 when I was the trial advocate prosecuting five "Ketamine Robbers" (as the press called them) in Court 1 of the Old Bailey in London. Probably some American has done that in the past, but not in recent memory, and certainly not from my unit of the Crown Prosecution Service. So I still wear the "wig and gown" and probably resemble Rumple of the Bailey more than I wish, now that I am closer to his fictional age. Bit of fun, that.

2007: Here goes. . . . I did attend the 20- and 35-year class reunions and really enjoyed it, thus going to the 40 year. . . . Yies! The 20-year found me just married for two weeks to my present wife, Jan. We lived in Salem  and worked in Corvallis (me) and Portland  (Jan), soon moving to Seattle about a year or two later. We moved to Seattle to live close to water and eventually onto a sailboat. Well six months later the dream happened and we found ourselves living aboard an Island Packet 35-foot sailboat. We have lived aboard for 17 years last November. We have two boat cats, Sailor and Teak, that are going on 16 years old. No human kids, just the four-legged kind. Life has been fun on the water here in Seattle and we look forward to retire for more cruising adventures on the water and possibly land cruise as well. I work for a structural engineering firm and Jan works for a CPA as an accountant. We enjoy sailing, of course, and I still enjoy skiing at Whistler and hiking and biking around the local areas. Remember the Snowmads club? I still ski because of that club. Must have liked the white stuff. Looking forward to seeing all my classmates in August!

It seems like we still struggle locating that balance of time and effort for family, work, and of course politics.
The word RETIREMENT even pops up more often lately than ever before.
With the passage of all these years, some things never change.  We all have our ongoing challenges, great successes and a few shortcomings.  Bev and I have kept up the concept of lengthening our stride at every possible opportunity.
At the 45th reunion, we were deep into a hotly contested Klamath County commissioner race.  (I  never thought I would enter into the strange land of politics).  As it all turned out, I spent 2013-2016 as one of the elected Klamath County commissioners.  What a fantastic experience, to say the least.  A lot was accomplished in those quick four years.  Unfortunately, we did not achieve world peace or cure all the diseases of the world, but we made a dent on many issues.  And, we still continue to believe in doing our part.
In the world of politics, whether here locally, in Salem or in Washington D.C., I  quickly known to shun being "politically correct." I always spoke my mind, especially for those that I represented. Right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong.  Obviously, politics does not always see things that way.
After four years of 24/7 in Klamath, Salem, and Washington  politics, Bev and I are now back at our Broken Box Ranch, north of Beatty. Still waging the battle over numerous issues including, but not limited to, water and the wise use of our natural resources.
It is rather moving, to read the ever growing list of classmates that are no longer with us physically.  This should be a reminder to all of us how temporary our time here is.
We are looking forward to catching up with many old friends at the 50th!

2007: The reunion was tons of fun. Thank you to all who contributed to such a great event.

I graduated from U of O in sociology and University of Hawaii in sociology and computer science. I worked for a time as a sociologist in Hawaii evaluating the state's family planning program. When my husband and I moved from Hawaii to the Bay Area, I switched my focus to software engineering. I still can't believe that they pay me to solve puzzles all day. I have worked for several high tech firms, but I spent almost 20 years with Siemens helping engineers make telephones ring. As an added benefit I got to travel to Munich frequently. Now I work for ShoreTel, which just had its IPO, doing basically the same thing I did for Siemens. I can't wait until retirement. 2009 is my designated year. My dear daughter is a junior at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I can't quit until I get her out of college!

My husband of 37 years died in January of this year. Frank was a professor of psychology for 34 years at the San Jose State University. It is tough, but I am adjusting to my new life. The problem with starting over is that there are no road maps, but I have great friends and loving family to help me and a dog.

To everyone who gave me email addresses at the reunion. I promise to keep in touch, not like last time.

2007: Hello all,

I've been living in the Seattle area since 1992.  I spent many wonderful years living in the Rogue Valley up till then.  Was widowed in '90.  Remarried and now divorced.  I am still very close to my two stepchildren from my first marriage.  Aaron is working on a "lifelong" doctorate at U of Maryland and living the life of a musician with his wife, Jill, a singer and actress. Susan is living up here in Everett and is a special ed teacher. She has adopted two children, and I am amazed that the words "Grampa Bill" can sound so sweet. I've spent 30 some years in education, in a number of roles, but usually with a hand in special education. I'm currently working as a special ed teacher in Redmond, with occasional quasi-administrative work. Retirement is somewhere on the horizon, but I've been lucky to have had work that has been a passion for so long.  As far as fun goes, I've been fortunate to have been able to travel a bit, and see other parts of the world. And I sing with a group, Seattle Choral Company --  mostly classical music but also contemporary works.  I've dropped from 1st tenor to 2nd tenor. If this aging thing doesn't get better I'll be a baritone soon.  Hope to see many of you down there. I should be able to make Friday at least.

I missed our 45th, but really looking forward to seeing everyone in August! Wife Nancy and I moved a few miles over to Kirkland nine years ago (same size house, much smaller yard!). Very lucky move, as our daughter Hillary and her husband moved here, too, about three miles away! Great for babysitting chores. We now have two granddaughters aged 2 years, and a new little girl born a month ago. I'm still selling residential real estate, still enjoying it a lot. Still playing quite a bit of golf, twice a week or so except in winter. My back doesn't move very well if it's below 50! Traveling is my most recent passion (just me, Nancy hates to travel so I find a friend or go with my sister and her husband). I love doing bike trips, three tours of Italy so far and one each in France and Croatia. Next up is New Zealand in January. Weird, I don't ride a bike at home, but I love seeing the sights from a bike in a foreign country. I'm still a huge fan of choral music (thank you, Lynn Sjolund!). I no longer sing in a group, but Seattle is loaded with great choirs and I go to concerts often. No more trombone playing, but it's pretty funny that my granddaughter's favorite record albums are the Tijuana Brass gems!!

I can't believe it is time for our 50th reunion. Graduation seems like yesterday!!! I live in Beaverton with Bob,  my husband of 43 years. We have two lovely children and two beautiful granddaughters. I am retired after working in the rental housing industry for 33 years, both for the state and non-profits. My husband owns an appliance repair company and still works. :) We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

I moved with my husband, Bob to Wilsonville  almost three years ago after spending the majority of my life in Medford.  I miss my friends and family there, but have loved my move. We live in Charbonneau, which is a great friendly active community.
I keep busy with my grandkids, playing bridge, cheering on the Oregon Ducks and traveling.  I'm very lucky to have seven beautiful grandkids all within five years, the oldest being 7.  I love spending tons of time with them and seeing the world through their eyes.
My highlight for this year was taking an African safari to Kenya
Tanzania with my cousin, Brad Thompson (class of '67), his wife, and my sister and
her husband. It was an amazing experience!
Looking forward to our 50th!

2007: After graduation I attended U of O for three years and business school for one year. Went to work for City of Salem for ten years, met first husband and moved to the Bay area. Worked for Price Waterhouse for eight years, got divorced and returned to Medford and started working for a construction company installing fiber optic cable for the major telephone companies. Completed the project ad orkd for another company doing the same thing. I met my present husband, on a project in LA.  We have lived all over the U.S. and presently live in Kentucky, where he grew up. Don't work in fiber anymore.  We are "late" parents. Our only child, Ellis, will be 16 on Aug.  28. We have a farm in the country with walking horses, quarter horses and a donkey. Our home is on the edge of town, close to our son's activities: soccer and Boy Scouts - working toward Eagle rank. I am an aspiring vineyardist; keep working at it and maybe one day there will be grapes. Western Kentucky U is nearby and I hope to finish that last year of college, just because. I worked in after-school programs and mentored children and now I think that I would like to do some substitute teaching.  All of my family lives in and around Medford and I think when my son goes off to college that I would like to move back; spend time with my nieces and nephews and do some traveling. God has been good to us and I am very thankful.  Would like to attend the reunion but I don't know if I will make it.  School has already started here.  Would love to hear from all of you. Most of my high school memories are about band and the trips we took.  Was sorry to hear about Ron Duce. In school he was a good friend and very funny. If I don't make it this year, hope to see you at the next one.

2007: Nooooooo I'm not gone yet!  5 days after graduation I left Medford for the U.S. Air Force.(is there any other?) Spent a great 26+ years which encompassed jobs as military working dog handler and law enforcement supervisor during Vietnam until 1973. Retrained into Education and Training Field until 1975 then went into AF Special Operations to finish up with Kuwait as my last conflict. Had some great assignments in Thailand, Japan, Hawaii, England, Spain with stateside assignments in Indiana, Wyoming, Colorado, California, Idaho and Florida. Retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in June of '93. Presently working for Southern California Presbyterian Homes as director of public safety in Irvine, Calif. Probably can't make the reunion but will try.

... and yes, I was the one who got his butt kicked at Jack's Drive-in.

Nolte, Tim

Dayton, NV

Looking forward to coming to our 50-year reunion in August and seeing a lot of old friends from the past. I moved to Reno, Nevada, in 1970 and started a career in the gaming industry. I recently semi-retired in 2011 with over 40 years in the business starting out as a change person and ending up in management as a casino manager. I met a lot of famous people and celebrities over the years, and it was quite exciting. Whenever there was a movie role in town, I was chosen to be either a blackjack dealer or a pit boss as an extra. I have been in four movies -- "California Split,'' "Sister Act,'' "Diamonds'' and "Magnolia." It was exciting working with the likes of George Segal, Elliot Gould, Whoopi Goldberg, Kirk Douglas, Dan Aykroyd and Tom Cruise, just to name a few.

After retiring from the gaming business, I started working with a non-profit organization out of Reno for elementary schools that had no music programs at their schools. It started with public and charter schools and now has progressed with public schools. My choir is called the "Children's Performance Choir" and we sing all over the community, including Reno and Carson City. We have been asked to sing for Veterans Day, Memorial Day, retirement homes, community talent shows, Nevada State Assembly, the National Anthem at an AAA baseball game in Reno and many more. We also have recorded seven CDs over the years and I have worked with over 250 students ranging from first grade to sixth.

I have a son and a daughter and seven grandchildren. I reside in Dayton, Nevada, 13 miles east of Carson City.

Married: 13 years.

Children:  Two stepdaughters and one stepson.

Grandchildren:  Two grandsons (18 and 16) and one granddaughter (15).

I'm semi-retired these days.  Larry and I are enjoying life with our time split between the Applegate Valley and our winter home in San Felipe, Mexico.  Larry sold his business five years ago and I'm able to do my business (bookkeeping) by Internet while we travel so my work doesn't keep us from enjoying the Mexican winters or any place else we decide to visit!

I retired from my work as a journeyman electrician in 2014. I have been married to Trissie Crovette Penland (Medford Class of '68) for 45 years. We have three grown children and four grandchildren, all of whom live near us. I still love snow skiing and catching the big fish in Oregon rivers... on occasion! Now that I'm retired, I have the time to enjoy working in my yard, and keeping updates done on the house. My "bucket list" is taking a variety of road trips in our travel trailer, and hitting as many ski slopes as I can along the way. Life is good!

2007: Hard to fathom that it has been 40 years since we were all studying hard (not too hard) at Medford High! Wasn't it only yesterday that we were in Washington Grade School (or several others, McLoughlin Junior High (or that other one), and then, the hallowed halls of the home of the Tornados? I have been married to Linda for 27 years. We have four kids, 10 grand kids, and three great grand kids!!! How does that work? Guess God has truly blessed us. Lately we have been traveling all over. Last year we went to New Orleans and to India with our church to help out as we could. Retired from the Army after 23 years. Retired from the University of Alaska after 13 years. Currently working on the third and final retirement. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

2007: We finally moved away from Oregon.  After retiring in 1999 from a career in law enforcement I took a job in the technology field.  I taught criminal justice at Corban College, my alma mater, in Salem and am now working as the registrar for the Koinonia Institute in the Idaho panhandle. My bride, Margaret (Grant), and I have been married for 37 years and have three daughters, ages 27, 32 and 36.  We have nine grandchildren.  Five live in Oregon and the rest live a few blocks away from us here in Idaho.  We still get out and ride bikes and walk.  This is a beautiful place all year round.  It is warm in the summer and the trees are loaded with snow in the winter. I doubt we'll get to the reunion.  The job I took to "keep me busy" in my retirement does exactly that.  Its probably just as well, I'm still not much into fun.

2007: Four years ago, I retired after 30 years with the State of Washington (Dept of Social and Health Services).  Being a total glutton for even more punishment, I then went immediately to work as a part-time consultant for the Seattle School District.  I escaped last summer with my sanity barely intact, and I now just volunteer part-time at The Center for Wooden Boats, a small maritime museum here in Seattle.  Of course, I keep myself busy in a few other ways, too -- like raising my 16-year-old son (yes, I did the "older mother" thing) and being the primary caretaker for my very ill parents (now, just one parent) in Medford.  Did you know that it is possible to make the drive from Seattle to Medford's Providence Hospital ER in 7.5 hours?  I've done it more than once in the last few years!  My husband, son, and I squeeze in a few vacations; the best one yet was last summer when we spent a week piloting a boat through the canals of England and Wales.  Don't know if I'll make it to this reunion, but I'll be thinking of my fellow Tornadoes.

I am living in Medford, still enjoying my work as a financial advisor, still married to Debra Lee (an attorney and  executive director of the legal services program), and still active in local civic affairs and politics. Same old, same old -- and that is turning out to be just fine.  Classmates may not have known it back in our school days, but I grew melons on our family farm at the base of Table Rock. I sold the melons at local fruit stands and at Thunderbird Market.  I have begun once again farming, only now it is a hobby; I grow melons to give away to clients and neighbors and friends. It is my little way of teaching people what a good vine-ripe cantaloupe tastes llike. Sarvis, Steve

(Steve passed away.)

2007: Eight years ago I virtually retired from the everyday grind of the BOSS MAN and became self-employed.  It has proved profitable and is a fun job and since I am Mr. Social it serves a better purpose. I am happily married to my wife Yvonne (Huston, class of 1969) for 20 years and together we share a son (34) and two daughters (36 and 38).  They've given us wonderful grandchildren, three girls 6, 12 and 13, three boys 10, 12 and 14. Together we go for adventures in the motor home, rides on the dunes on ATVs and camping in the forest. We share movies and the pool, long talks, Pear Blossom in April sun, rain or snow.

Together my wife and I are looking forward to the leisure life in the next 5-10 years.  Our experiences for the allusive blue skies and waters have taken us to British Columbia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Sturgis on Harleys,  and across the states and, of course, exploring right here in beautiful Oregon.

We sold the beach lots and remodeled our dream home.  It's been said the yard looks like a park. It must be real comfortable, as people leave notes and messages drawn in the dirt thanking us for allowing them to enjoy their lunch and empty bottles challenging our wits as to who was here enjoying the peacefulness while we were out. We spend a lot of time here at the homestead, the movies are great!

When the time is right we'll sell the homestead, the business, an auto or two and make a permanent change. Until then it's work in the garden and yard, one day at a time and gratefulness for being alive to see this day!

2007: Since the 1997 reunion, I have been a self-employed third party administrator. I have 19 clients, three of which are national unions. It is a very time-consuming business, and is the reason I missed the 2002 reunion, because I was in Las Vegas for two conventions. My wife Sharon and I will celebrate our 35th anniversary in March 2008 with an eleven-day vacation in Hawaii. Sharon has been working as a registered nurse since 1971, and thinks she will retire someday. I think I’ll work until I am no longer alive. Our eight children have also been busy, as we have eight grandchildren now. Our oldest child, Mindy, has one, Michael has four, Emily has two, and Kimberly has our latest arrival. Of our children, Mindy is finishing her last requirements to become a teacher. Michael has just finished pharmacy school. Emily is a registered nurse. Brian is a pilot for Frontier Airlines (for FedEx) and Kimberly has one year to go before she is a naturopathic physician. Eric just graduated from U of O and plans to go to pharmacy school. 2007: What fun it has been to read everyone's bios! I am so sorry to be missing the reunion -- LOVED the photos. I truly loved high school -- it was a lot more fun than college. I suppose it's because so many of us were together from first to 12th grades. Since graduating from Lewis & Clark, I've lived in Chapel Hill (M.A. in comparative literature), New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Boston Eugene and New York, which I adore. Was married from 1975 to 2004 to a fabulous economist from whom I'm now amicably divorced.  No children. Have spent my entire career in arts fundraising (except for those couple years as a cocktail waitress) for various organizations: Oregon Bach Festival, Eugene Symphony, The Brooklyn Museum, the New York Philharmonic and The Metropolitan Opera, where I now head the development department. Marcia Pickett's daughter works in my department -- small world! I hope to make it to the 50th reunion.

2007: Wayne Taylor's Medford High Story:  I loved to sing in the Medford High Choir, with Dr. Sjolund and the Madrigal Group.  College at University of Oregon was a great eye-opening experience, starting with Wilcox Dorm with roomie John Rowan, and ending with our student-house in Soup Spring Camp, with Bruce Winterhalder, Terry Templeman, and Paul Hagerman, all Honors College students from Medford, plus Jim Bonfonti from B.C. I went to University of Wisconsin, Madison to earn a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology; where I met my wife and soulmate, Linda Vician.  We raised daughter Wendy during grad school, and then we had two daughters Laura and Katie, who grew up in Seattle while we were doing post-doctoral studies in yeast molecular genetics and neurobiology. Now I'm teaching biochemistry for our small medical school at Charles Drew University in Los Angeles, and doing research on stem cells.   Life is excellent, and I believe it can become sustainable -- if we can just keep this great locomotive of society from going downhill out of control and off of the broken bridge at the bottom of the canyon.

2007: Can you believe we are nearing 60 years OLD??? . . . No, not us.  We will always be kids ( at least to each other).   I am so anxious to see everyone at the 40th reunion.  I am still working as a Real Estate Broker for Mahar Homes, here in Medford.  Have no grandchildren (yet) but keep hoping that my only daughter will come through.  Kari (my one and only) lives in Talent and enjoys her career as an equestrian, giving riding lessons and running a boarding stable.  Hope to see you all soon.

2007: Moved to Bend two years ago from Anacortes, Wash. Looks like my wife and I are true snowbirds living in Bend. We ski the winters in Bend and spend a good deal of our summer at our cabin in Southern Oregon. Nice to be settled in Bend, and, boy, has Bend changed since we lived here the first time 1978-82. Looking forward to the 45th reunion in Medford.

As you notice my last name is Rode, so I am still married to Jon Rode who I met the summer before my sophomore year at Medford High.  We went together all through high school and married in 1969 while at college at the University of Oregon. After receiving my masters in Speech Pathology and Jon his PhD in physics, we moved to Thousand Oaks/Westlake California area in 1976 where we both worked until retirement.
My main interests have centered around family, friends, traveling, cooking, and children. We had two children Jeremy (37) and Victoria. Jeremy just got married in Belize to Jenny and they live in Encinitas. Hopefully in a couple years, I  will finally become a grandma.
My mother (95) lives in Jacksonville and two brothers in Medford plus a sister-in-law in Hillsboro so trips to Oregon are frequent. Even though I have lived in Southern California for over 40 years, I am an Oregonian in my heart.

2007: I retired from 28 years at Providence Medford Medical Center in February 2006.  I now am a finacial controller for an overseas distributorship.  I work from home.  I live on a small ranch and have a modest herd of horses.  I enjoy my free time and ride a lot, garden and mostly do whatever I want when I want.  I am really enjoying retirement.

2007: After graduation from Medford High School, I attended University of Oregon and Indiana University majoring in recreation administration.  I worked for several years at an environmental education center.  After getting married and having two daughters, I went back to school to get teacher certification. I have been teaching for the past 18 years.  My daughters both got married this past year (one is an engineer in New York, the other is a math teacher in California).  Though I still teach, my husband is retired and we enjoy traveling, golfing, and hiking.

2007: I have not been in touch with any of you since our graduation.  It was really fun to read the profiles here.  I moved to San Francisco after graduation to experience the summer of love.  Shortly thereafter I had gone through my meager savings and ended up getting a job with Ma Bell.  I transferred back to Medford, then to Eugene.  I am going to retire this year -- YEAH! I have been a systems and network tech -- being the first woman working outside in Medford.  My old body will be greatful, not climbing poles and digging holes!  I am married, have two daughters and two of the cutest, smartest grandkids.  I have done a small amount of travel, learned to fly and skydive. Life has been good.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone
